Kay Benedict Sgarlata, author of “The Class of  ‘60,” will speak from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Adirondack Reader in Inlet on Sunday, July 6.
Benedict Sgarlata, a summer resident of Inlet, will sign her books at the conclusion of her talk.
“The Class of  ‘60” is a memoir of the author’s graduating class from West Genesee High School, outside Syracuse. The author chronicles the lives of children born in the early 1940’s who were part of the post WWII generation; raised with two parents in the home, supper at six every night, church on Sundays and going to the movies as a family on Friday nights. The writer takes the reader back to the days of  45 RPM records, 3-D movies at the Kallet Genesee, back to school shopping on Salina Street, and takes the reader to the point where these classmates now experience CDs, DVDs, e-mail and, for the surviving 195 classmates, Medicare.
Benedict Sgarlata holds a Bachelor of Science and Master in Education degree from SUNY Oswego where she also received her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration. In the mid-eighties she served as Gov. Mario Cuomo’s regional representative serving central New York, which included the counties of Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Oneida and Herkimer.
This event is free and open to the public.
